Marie celebrated a big birthday at the end of October - her 21st all over again! Just kidding, but on the Saturday eve of the surprise party she hadn't found out about, we hatched a plan at the end of our last fall woodcutting day to have a fake birthday party. It was fun and sugary and a great welcome home to Mom & Pop from their travels, too.

Sofia knew this was a prime lap for a big serving of cake and ice cream
The real party was at Mom & Pop's, and the kids decorated with bats and ghosts and spirals. They also made the cake and helped make the enchiladas.

PS - I got to watch Sofia one day while Mom & Pop were gone. What fun we had! I didn't bring my camera, but we played and read and took a nice long walk to visit great grandma and Tio Tom. A very fun day - makes sitting behind a desk less fun.
